Most aspiring coaches take a coach training program to experience personal growth for themselves.
There is nothing wrong with that.
But to be successful as a coach, you need to be able to fully focus on the other person’s needs, to give, to listen, to ask compassionately, non-judgementally and caring, to create a safe space, reframe, rephrase and elicit insights and “Aha!” moments for your clients.
If you can’t do this, but are a subject matter expert, you are rather a teacher and not a coach.
Nothing wrong with that either, but your road may look different.
These two are often confused.
Change in others occurs as a combination of gaining knowledge, thoughtfully considering and integrating what you learned into your personal life and your personality.
